Explosive gray tones emulate a battlefield witnessed through the clouds. - Death From Above

HG585 was one of the first sketches done when I’d first returned to Processing after a couple of years. I was making some basic drawings to get myself back into the rhythm, as seen below with the diagonal line sketch. Through a series of iterations I wanted to begin to more precisely control the smoothness of the gradients and begin blend them more into one another, removing the undesired banding effect. At that point I had a smooth flickering hatch gradient, and wanted to then introduce some abrupt changes. The thicknesses of randomly chosen lines grow in scale tremendously. They then immediately return to normal, creating an explosive effect.
