yin yang lounge | New York, New York
LimonLab

Yin Yang Lounge is a prototype for a fused commercial environment. It brings together components of retail, leisure, and restaurant programs to produce a sinuous space. The client proposed a new undisclosed retail model, which essentially deals with blending typically separate programs into one hybrid social retail environment. At Limonlab we were asked to develop a series of prototypical stores to reflect the business concept, within typical commercial plot configurations found within New York City; including the shotgun style space, linear storefront, and as presented here the corner lot.

Our proposal was to create a series of custom modular furnishings that embedded within its’ geometry the intended uses and transformations. A goal was to minimize edge conditions, both programmatically and spatially. The modular furnishings connect to one another creating seamless transitions between functions of leisure, product display, and media projection. Through the configuration of the modular pieces circulation flows and zoning can be manipulated allowing for a flexible environment, while simultaneously maintaining its’ sense of continuity.
